Imagine you're a detective - what would your worst nightmare be? A missing person? Failing to solve a case? How about your victim losing their memory? The latter is the situation the detective in Netflix's brilliant new crime drama, The Marked Woman, finds herself in - and let's just say it will seriously test your nerves.
The upcoming film takes us to the port of Barcelona, where an unknown woman is discovered inside a shipping container. Detective Anna Ripoll (Candela Peña), along with Officer Quique Zárate (Pol López), must race against the clock to find out the identity of the woman, which is made all the harder by the fact that she doesn’t remember who she is herself - or how she ended up there.

What is The Marked Woman about?
The Spanish crime drama is adapted from the novel, La Desconocida (translated as The Unknown), by Rosa Montero and Olivier Truc and follows Detective Anna Ripoll (Candela Peña) and Officer Quique Zárate’s (Pol López) as they investigate how a mystery woman ended up bound and gagged in a shipping counter at a port in Barcelona. The problem? The woman doesn’t remember who she is or how she ended up in the container. Anna and Quique embark on a race against time to uncover the identity of the unknown woman and the secrets hidden in her memory.
Author Rosa Montero says of the adaptation: “I am very excited about the Netflix release of the film based on The Marked Woman, the crime novel I co-wrote with French author Olivier Truc. It was a fascinating, incredibly fun and somewhat crazy project that gave our unknown character’s story an unusual intensity. I can’t wait to see how this formidable team has translated all that suspense into the film.”
