Birthday wishes are in order for one of our favourite young royals today (23 April), as The Prince and Princess of Wales' youngest son Prince Louis turns eight years old . To mark the occasion, his parents have shared a never-seen snap of the prince grinning while on a boat trip. In the photo, posted to their official social media account, he stands with his arms folded in a nautical blue jumper looking so much more grown up.
In a caption alongside the image his parents wrote, 'Happy birthday, Louis! 8 today!' and credited the photographer as Matt Porteous, who specialises in photography around people and the ocean. Members of the public were quick to offer their best wishes in the comments, sending their best to the cheeky young royal, known for his enthusiastic personality. You can see the post below:
As the youngest member of the Wales family, Prince Louis isn't seen at as many public facing events as his older brother, Prince George, and sister, Princess Charlotte. One of his most memorable outings was, of course, during Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
During the pageant, the young prince captured the hearts (and amusement!) of the nation as he pulled hilarious faces and interacted with his extended family. At one point, The Princess of Wales attempted to calm him, only for him to put his hand over her mouth. Even his grandfather, King Charles got involved, and sat him on his knee to keep him entertained, while Prince Louis made Queen Camilla laugh. It was certainly a relatable scene to many families with young, wriggly children.
One of the other key occasions we got to see Prince Louis out and about was at King Charles' Coronation Day. The three children entered Westminster Abbey behind her parents, and it seemed that big sister Princess Charlotte took on the task of looking out for her little brother. During the service, she could be seen holding his hand and sitting beside him, while Prince Louis pointed things out in the Abbey to her while the grand ceremony was taking place.
Prince Louis was worn on 23 April in 2018 at the Lindo Wing at St Mary's Hospital, which is in Paddington, London. Announcing his birth to the world, The Prince and Princess of Wales was snapped smiling on the steps of the hospital with a newborn Prince Louis in Kate's arms. He was then christened that summer, on 9 July, at the Chapel Royal at St James' Palace.
