If you’ve run out of good crime dramas to watch and are wondering what else is on the horizon, we’ve come to your rescue. Yes, we’ve had some pretty good crime dramas this year (anyone seen The Cage? Or the latest Grantchester?), but it turns out the best is yet to come. We’ve had a sneak preview of all the big series coming our way to bring you 7 beyond brilliant ones – one of which is even better than Midsomer Murders.

We’ve got a new Channel 4 series that’ll introduce us to Glenn Close’s (very!) dark side, a Harlan Coben series that might just be his most exhilarating yet and a new ITV series that’s set to have us all hiding behind our sofas… quite literally. So, settle in as these are the 7 best crime dramas coming soon to ITV, Netflix, the BBC and more.

I Will Find You

There’s no such thing as too many Harlan Coben dramas and this time, his 2023 novel forms the plot. David Burroughs (Sam Worthington) has been wrongly imprisoned for killing his three-year-old son and when a visitor shows him a photo that suggests his son might be alive, David hatches a plan to escape. The question is, what really happened on the night he woke up covered in blood? The king of plot twists does it again. I Will Find You is coming to Netflix on Thursday 18th June.

Up to No Good

Glenn Close is tapping into her dark side for Channel 4’s next crime drama. Based on two short story collections by Swedish writer Helene Tursten, the Fatal Attraction star leads the cast as Maud Oldcastle, a ruthless older woman with a passion for murder. She’s spent years caring for her sister and is determined to get her old life back - but a suspicious detective might just get in the way of her second act. Bold and brilliant. Up to No Good is coming to Channel 4 soon.

ITV is billing this one as a “hide behind the sofa” drama, so it’s not for the faint-hearted. Based on G. R. Halliday’s 2019 novel, From The Shadows, we follow detective Monica Kennedy (played by The Nevers’ Laura Donnelly) as she’s called to investigate a grisly murder in the Scottish Highlands. She quickly discovers that it’s not a one-off - and she’s about to uncover a whole string of killings carried out by a criminal who takes her on the ultimate cat-and-mouse chase. The Dark is coming to ITV1 and ITVX this summer.

We’re off to Wales for this one where DI Glyn Walsh (Mark Lewis Jones) and DS Sion Dearden (Steffan Rhodri) are old friends who find a new lease of life through solving crime. The pair should be on their last legs following numerous personal hardships, but instead, they work together to solve perplexing murders in the idyllic seaside town of Tenby. If you’re a Midsomer Murders fans, we have a feeling Old Town Murders will be even better. Old Town Murders is coming to BBC One and BBC iPlayer in 2026.

Audiences loved Mark Gatiss’s cosy crime series when it arrived on U&Alibi last July, so it’s only right that it should return for a second run. Gabriel Book (Gatiss) is back in his bookshop in Archangel Lane and he’s drawn into the world of spiritualism when he’s asked to help solve the mysterious case involving medium, Harold Sneed (Jason Watkins). He also has a puzzling murder at a gentleman’s outfitters on his hands and a thieving Duchess (played by Miranda Richardson). Expect another fantastic instalment. Bookish series 2 is coming to U&Alibi this summer.

Trigger Point

One of the best police shows on TV is back… almost! Vicky McClure returns as bomb disposal operative Lana Washington who dedicates herself to keeping the capital safe from explosive devices and terrorist threats. And while ITV is keeping very tight-lipped about the new plot (and cast, for that matter), it’s pretty safe to say that she and her team are likely to have another race-against-the-clock case on their hands. Trigger Point series 4 is coming to ITV1 and ITVX this autumn.
