Any parent can relate to the school run rush and, with the joy of more children, also comes the inevitable squabbles between them. According to Prince William, the three children he shares with The Princess of Wales - Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis - aren't exempt from sibling rivalry, just like any other family. He explained how wrangling three children in the morning and getting them to the school gates on time, isn't always smooth sailing.
During a special episode of Heart Breakfast with Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden last Friday (22 May), Prince William revealed some of the morning chaos in his household, which many families will be able to relate to. As the show was taking place while his youngest two were getting ready for school (Prince George was boarding the night before, so was already there), Prince William took the opportunity to address his kids. 'Charlotte and Louis, if you’re listening make sure you’re on time please,' he said over the airwaves. 'Make sure you’re not fighting over who’s listening to what this morning.'
While Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis might not always agree exactly which song to listen to in the car in the mornings, there is one artist who they're both a huge fan of. 'Charlotte, my daughter, and Louis to be fair, but Charlotte particularly, is obsessed by Taylor Swift,' Prince William said, while co-hosting the morning radio show. 'We went to see her on her Eras tour and it was amazing.' The royal had been asked to pick a selection of songs to play while he hosting, and he chose Taylor Swift's 'Opalite' in honour of his daughter.
Prince William was asked by Amanda Holden whether his school run was as chaotic as most families are and he said, 'it can be.' He confessed that the journeys often involved lots of 'jam sandwiches taken in the car.' The tasty comfort snack might keep the kids happy, but does mean things can get a little messy. Prince William revealed; 'Louis will leave jam fingerprints throughout the car, which is really helpful.'
The Prince of Wales took part in the special edition of Heart Radio's breakfast show to raise awareness around his work with the Isles of Scilly Hospital. He said that the area held happy memories of visiting with his parents, the late Princess Diana and King Charles, and added that he returns every now and then by piloting a helicopter over.
