There are some series that deserve a rating above the standard 5 stars and one of those is Case Sensitive. The impossible to fault detective drama introduces us to DS Charlie Zailer (Olivia Williams) and DC Simon Waterhouse (Darren Boyd) who find themselves on the trail of some extremely twisted killers - and their investigations make for a series that's even better than 10/10 as far as ratings go.

Adapted from Sophie Hannah's acclaimed novels, over the course of two equally compelling series, the duo deal with both the murder of a mother and her child and one connected to a man who recently admitted to abusing a former girlfriend. It's dark, twisted and a must-see if you enjoy getting stuck into gritty murder cases (not literally!).

With Case Sensitive available to stream now on Prime Video, here’s everything you need to know about the seriees before you watch it, including the plot, cast and how to tune in.

The first series, which originally aired on ITV in 2011, sees our lead detectives, DS Charlie Zailer (Olivia Williams) and DC Simon Waterhouse (Darren Boyd), called to the scene of the suspected double suicide of housewife, Geraldine Bretherick, and her five-year-old child. Husband and father, Mark (Rupert Graves), who was working away at the time of the incident, insists they would never have taken their lives, and it's up to DS Zailer and DC Waterhouse to investigate.

To make matters more complicated, the pair clash over possible motives and hypotheses. DC Waterhouse doesn't believe the husband is who he says he is and thinks there's more to the so-called suicide. Meanwhile, Sally Thorne (Amy Beth Hayes), a working mother with a husband and two young children, is shocked to hear the news. Months earlier, she had an affair with Mark and hopes to console him, a decision her friends don't agree with. And when she decides to ignore their fears, she set out on a path that will put everything - including her life - at risk.

Series 2, which aired in 2012, sees the team return and their job isn't getting any easier as the latest murder enters them into a love triangle of sorts. Ruth Blacksmith (Eva Birthistle) has fallen a younger man, Aidan Harper (Theo James), who proposes, which her ex-husband, Jason, isn't happy about. And when Jason is found dead, Aidan appears to be prime suspect, not least because it wouldn't be the first time he's harmed someone.

Yes - it's twisty, unpredictable and the fiery dynamic between the lead detectives means there's rarely a dull moment. Our only complaint is that there are only four episodes to enjoy as ITV sadly announced the decision to axe the series in 2012!
