The Prince and Princess of Wales recently celebrated their 15 year wedding anniversary, but the couple have been together for more than two decades, since meeting at university. The pair may have been teenagers when they met at St Andrews, but it was the beginning of a love story that would last - and shape royal history along the way.
As we all know, the Princess of Wales didn't begin life as a royal, and was born Catherine 'Kate' Middleton to her parents Carole and Michael in Berkshire. When the couple eventually tied the knot in 2011, Kate's dad revealed the moment when he realised just how serious Prince William was about his daughter.
The Prince and Princess married in a spectacular ceremony at Westminster Abbey which was broadcast to millions around the world. After the public event, however, the couple were able to unwind with family and friends to celebrate their special day in private.
Since then, insiders present at the event have revealed details about what happened at the reception, including touching moments from the speeches. According to The Times, Michael's father of the bride speech included a moving - and surprising - anecdote about an event which took place back in 2008. 'I knew things were getting serious when I found a helicopter in my garden,' he told the guests. 'I thought gosh, he must like my daughter. I did wonder then how he was going to top this.' Prince William is a trained RAF pilot, and recently revealed he still flies regularly.
In his own speech, Prince William is reported to have referred to Kate as his 'rock', a sentiment he has repeated in recent years, reiterating how 'proud' he is of her. True to form, the best man speech was a little cheekier, led by Prince Harry. According to The Times, he joked about his brother's fading hairline and referred to the couple as the 'Dude and Duchess'. The Prince and Princess of Wales' former titles were the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, until King Charles took to the throne.
The music on the couple's big night was provided by singer Ellie Goulding, who Prince William and Kate are both fans of, and ended with a firework display. Rumours of afterparties in both Princess Margret's bathroom and a prestigious hotel are said to have taken place, before the newlyweds were helicoptered away by one of Prince William's RAF colleagues.
