The Royals enjoyed a family day out over the weekend, with Prince William, Catherine, Princess of Wales, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis all in attendance at the Commonwealth Games – along with Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, and Prince Edward. The family arrived in Glasgow to watch the netball semi-finals, and were photographed sitting side by side and enjoying some chat in between the games.
Eagle-eyed fans spotted a rather sweet moment amid all the fun. While Catherine and William started the day sitting apart, with Charlotte and George between them, they kept having to lean over their kids to talk. Later on, they reorganised the seating arrangement just so William and Kate could sit next to each other. It’s an adorable detail that shows that even after 15 years as a married couple, the pair still just want to hang out with each other.
‘They can’t live without each other,’ wrote one Royal fan on social media. Another commented: ‘Aawwhh!! Prince William wanted to sit next to Princess Catherine!! So sweet. The bond they have with each other and their children is amazing! I love it!’
The Prince and Princess of Wales confirmed on Instagram that they had a great time, captioning a post from the day with: ‘Incredible atmosphere at the Commonwealth Games today. Watching world-class talent compete and seeing the power of sport to bring people together is truly special. Thank you to everyone involved for such a wonderful day.’
It was also very sweet to see how Catherine and Charlotte twinned for the occasion. Both went for black and white stripes – Charlotte in a polka dot dress by Guess with stripes on the skirt, and Kate in a striped knitted vest top by La Ligne, worn with a forest green Ralph Lauren blazer and a pleated white midi skirt. The boys matched, too, all wearing smart linen shirts and navy trousers. You know what they say: the family that dresses together… has a lovely time at the Commonwealth Games?
