During an appearance on The One Show on Wednesday 2 September, Richard Osman shared that his 2024 novel, We Solve Murders, will be adapted into a Netflix drama after the success of last year’s The Thursday Murder Club. While we don’t know the exact details of the upcoming saga, the novel centres around retired police officer Steve Wheeler, who’s enjoying his newfound freedom in the New Forest. He still dabbles in some small-scale investigations, but he mainly enjoys quiet afternoons at home with his cat, Trouble.

However, his daughter-in-law is in the business of adventure-chasing, now that she works as a private security officer to billionaires. Her current gig involves her protecting bestselling author Rosie D’Antonio on a remote island. Then a corpse, a bag of money and a killer on the loose results in Steve receiving an SOS from Amy – thoroughly disrupting his retirement peace. A tense cat-and-mouse race around the world unfolds as Steve comes to the rescue, but can they stay one step ahead of the killer?
