Princess Anne had an exciting engagement this week, as she celebrated the 50 year milestone of a charity with a special connection to a famous British author. Princess Anne was supporting Farms for City Children, which was founded by Sir Michael Morpurgo and Lady Clare Morpugo. Given the outdoors nature of the organisation - which also involves horses - it will have been right up her street.
Farms for City Children offers week-long, residential experiences for children and young people (especially those experiencing inequality) to spend time working and living on a farm, tending to animals and getting hands-on experience of many aspects of working farm life. To mark five decades of the charity, Princess Anne was on hand to lead the celebrations.
During her visit, Princess Anne also met children and teachers from a primary school who were getting involved with grooming the farm animals and tending to produce. Photographs of her visit were shared to the official instagram account of the Royal Family.
Princess Anne is a supporter and patron of a number of charities and organisations, but is also well known for her love of horses in particular. The Princess is an accomplished equestrian, with her daughter Zara Tindall following in her footsteps to ride competitively, including in the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
Now, a third generation has taken up the reigns, with Zara's own daughter, Mia, competing this month in a showjumping competition at the age of just 12. Mia was photographed competing on her horse Bunny Two Tails, at the 2026 Blenheim International Horse Trials, the same event her mum, Zara, was riding in the following day.
