The star is set to take on a new role every bit as conniving as arms seller Richard Roper in the streaming service’s new dream drama The Wanted Man. And we predict it’ll be so good it might just steal the throne from the BBC’s beloved spy thriller.
The crime thriller, which is coming soon to Apple TV, tells a story of Felix Carmichael (Hugh Laurie) the head of a criminal firm who finds himself locked up after a bitter betrayal. Expect violence, scandal and a brutal escape mission. It sounds absolutely addictive.

What is The Wanted Man about?
The upcoming eight-part series tells the story of organised crime boss Felix Carmichael (Hugh Laurie) who’s betrayed by someone in his own firm and sent to the notorious Staplehurst Prison. The drama follows how Felix deals with life on the inside as he turns to violence to survive. With his life at risk, including his family, firm and fortune, he decides to escape, but it won’t be easy.
The first-look images shared by Apple offer an exciting glimpse into the explosive drama. One picture shows a battered and bruised Hugh in full-prison get-up. The most dramatic of the selection shows a balaclava-clad Fionn Whitehead and Gershwyn Eustache Jnr in front of a car in flames.

How can I watch The Wanted Man?
The first two episodes of The Wanted Man will premiere on Apple TV on Wednesday 6 January 2027. The rest of the series will see a weekly episode release each Wednesday until 17 February 2027.
