A series that, dare we say, is even better than Death in Paradise is top of our list of detective dramas this week. Following Magpie Murders and Moonflower Murders Lesley Manville is back as book-editor-turned-part-time-detective Susan Ryeland, who is hired to work on a continuation novel in the Atticus Pünd series, written by troubled author Eliot Crace (Jamie Blackley). Fiction and non-fiction quickly collide, as she’s drawn into a real-life murder investigation and unexpectedly finds herself as a suspect! Episode 2 of Marble Hall Murders will air on BBC One on Saturday 3rd October at 9.35pm. All episodes are available to watch now on BBC iPlayer.

The drama follows DI Emma Crane (Michelle Keegan) and her partner, DI Tom Radley (Douglas Booth), as they investigate the murder of 16-year-old ice skater Sophie Madsen (Matilda Freeman) in the sleepy town of Wakestead. However, what they uncover along the way is a disturbing trail of cover-ups and corruption linking back to misogynistic misconduct in the police force. The fifth episode of The Blame will air on ITV 1 on Sunday 4 October at 9pm. All episodes are available to stream now on ITVX.
