Celebrity Traitors series 2 is getting very treacherous. Last night’s traitors recruitment of mathematician Professor Hannah Fry has set tongues wagging with what this dynamic could mean for the rest of the game, and team traitors plan of action going forward. But we think viewers are missing some big clues. A twist is coming: Celebrity Traitors Miranda Hart is about to be recruited – here’s why she has to say no.

The loveable comedian, actress and dare we say, national treasure, Miranda Hart has so far remained pretty under the radar as a faithful in this game, but we think this is all about to change. With two new recruits and one traitor banishment already, this is certainly some of the most chaotic traitors we’ve ever seen, which could mean a curveball is exactly what they need. Miranda’s thus far faithfulness, and excellent “Miss Marple” skills mean she is the perfect candidate. But we think it’s a trap.

Here’s what makes her so tempting for the traitors, and why accepting their offer could mean the end of her game.

She would make an excellent traitor

Miranda could make a brilliant Traitor because she has already given herself the perfect cover. Viewers and players alike know her for a warm, funny, slightly chaotic persona, which could make her seem harmless in the castle, a tactic we have seen many players ride all the way to the finish line.

She’s claimed she’s “scarily good at lying” in games, while saying she gets Would I Lie to You? right about 90% of the time. A good sniffer for mistruths is a dangerous quality in a faithful, but could also mean shed be an excellent liar as a traitor. That combination of convincing bluffing and sharp lie-spotting could make her dangerous on either side of the game. She’s even nicknamed herself “Miss Marple”, a prediction that seems to be becoming truer by the minute.

The traitors have already earmarked her

When discussing previous recruitments, Miranda’s name has already come up. In last night’s episode, when traitors comedian James Acaster and TV host Maya Jama were contemplating who to recruit, Maya suggested Miranda. She said, ‘Miranda is also one that I don’t think anyone suspects at all.’ Showing they already have an eye on her and have identified her as an asset.

However she did follow this up by saying she was unsure if Miranda would accept the offer, also indicating their awareness that it would be a dangerous move for the comedian to become a traitor. Preempting traitor on traitor betrayal perhaps?

She's hot on their trails

Following actress Myha'la's banishment last night, Miranda quickly put the pieces together on her own and has (correctly) focused her suspicions entirely on newly recruited Traitor Hannah. We all know those who correctly identify traitors become a target, after all - that’s why Hannah was recruited and Amol was murdered. But because of her above qualities, Miranda is far more useful to the traitors as one of them than she is dead.

She’s very good at roundtables

One of the strongest pieces of evidence that would put Miranda on the traitors radar is how well she conducted herself at last night's roundtable. She often led the conversation but did something keenly different to the other players, instead of focusing her contribution to the table on what her own theories were, which is what all the others do, she uses the time much more wisely. She actually asks others what they think.

We saw her calmly ask actor Bella Rasmey on their further theories, saying ‘Can I ask you something, because you have an incredibly mind.’ She flatters and she listens. Instead of shooting off accusations she's using the roundtable to gather information and put others on the spot. Not only does this encourage healthy faithful conversation, and expose peoples thoughts, but it also allows her to keep her cards closer to her chest - something traitors would undoubtedly see as threatening.

In last night’s episode we saw how Hannah was recruited by the traitors. A very astute move by the existing traitors, as she was an excellent faithful. She mentioned how she was even building spreadsheets to help her track down the murders based on probability and tangible evidence. Having her on side is far more useful for the traitors, she can use her skills for evil instead of good. But there is another added bonus of turning her, it makes her look incredibly suspicious to the other players.

Ever since she walked back into breakfast, the other players no longer trust her. Many were certain the traitors would have killed her, due to her intelligence and determination. Her not being murdered speaks volumes to them and makes her an obvious pick for banishment. Which in turn means more heat is off the existing traitors Maya and James. The exact same situation could happen to Miranda should she accept their offer.

At the moment, Miranda is the perfect faithful, which would make her apt for murder in the other faithfuls minds. Should she become a traitor, her resilience against murder therefore, would mean it was only a matter of time before they begin to suspect her.

Of course many believe saying no to the traitors is a death wish in itself, to reject recruitment definitely puts you on the murder list. And even if she were to admit to the attempt to the other players, this would bring a lot of heat and suspicion onto her, making her a candidate for banishment - however, we think the traitors underestimate her popularity.

We believe her charm, charisma and skills in the castle mean that Miranda, is in a prime position to be actually believed by her fellow faithfuls, should she admit to rejecting a recruitment. Her sway is strong, potentially strong enough to save her and cement her as the most faithful player. It’s an extremely risky game, but as we’ve seen with what has come down on Hannah - which sure to only get worse with My’hala’s wrongful banishment last night - accepting is an even riskier approach for Miranda.
