Kelly Clarkson had The Rookie star Eric Winter appear as a guest on The Kelly Clarkson Show on March 30.

The two talked about how Kelly previously guest starred on a season 5 episode of The Rookie.

Fans begged Kelly to make another cameo on The Rookie—and she revealed if she’d ever return to acting on TV.

Is there a day when we’ll see Kelly Clarkson return to acting? If her fans and The Rookie star Eric Winter have their way, absolutely!

Kelly has been headlining The Kelly Clarkson Show for seven seasons, and she also appears on reality shows like The Voice. But back in 2023, viewers had the chance to see her try out her acting chops when she guest-starred as herself on a season 5 episode of The Rookie.

That was the last time fans saw Kelly in a role like that, so when Eric (who plays Tim Bradford) appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show on March 30, he had to mention just how good it was to have her appear on his hit procedural drama. But with that came a request for Kelly to return—which she had some thoughts about.

“My co-star!” Eric exclaimed to her in a clip posted on Instagram. “We gotta get you back on the show. She’s so good!”

“No, God, I—literally, you would’ve thought I had to address the nation,” Kelly added. “It literally was nothing. I did nothing! Everybody was probably like, ‘What’s wrong with you?’”

Even though Kelly wasn’t necessarily convinced she could make another appearance on The Rookie, Eric had to tell her his perception of how she really did during her guest spot.

“You were fantastic,” Eric later reassured her.

“That’s what happens, though!” she rebutted in response. “Singing, I don’t get nervous. But acting, I just … well, I have IBS. So, yeah—that’s what happens. You’re welcome for the visual.”

Despite the reservation Kelly has about coming back to TV, fans made sure to let her know they’d welcome her back on The Rookie any time she wanted.

“We need to see Kelly in acting 😍,” one person wrote in the comments. “Yesss bring Kelly Back!!!!! ❤️🔥,” another begged. “We need a petition for Kelly to return to the rookie!” a different follower added.

Now, for folks who don’t remember, Kelly’s appearance on The Rookie saw her getting in a hospital elevator with members of the fictionalized LAPD Mid-Wilshire station. Witnessing a physically hurt John Nolan (played by Nathan Fillion), the moment led to a hilariously awkward silence between all the parties as the cops recognized Kelly in the elevator.

So, does this mean Kelly is going to appear in an upcoming episode of The Rookie? Given how the show just got renewed for season 9, one can only hope!
