Kelly Ripa has been a fixture on Live With Kelly and Mark for the last 25 years—but fans are wondering where she is right now.
On their weekday morning show, Kelly and her husband, Mark Consuelos, love to talk about the latest in pop culture and trending news. But when viewers turned on the TV on July 27, Mark brought out Kevin Jonas as his surprise co-host.
So, where is Kelly, and why isn’t she on Live right now?
Where is Kelly Ripa on Live With Kelly and Mark?
As Mark revealed on July 27, Kelly is recovering from an oral procedure.
“You know, Kelly sends her love,” Mark began in a clip posted on Instagram. “Kelly had a little bit of ... well, it’s not little. It’s a gum graft surgery. Her dentist said five years ago, ‘You can do it in about five years.’ And she joked, she’s like, ‘I didn’t think I’d still be on the air in five years!’ But the one thing about it—she’s doing well. She’s doing great.”
Mark also noted that Kelly has to abide by a few aftercare rules.
“She’s not allowed to talk,” Mark added.
“Wow. That’s gotta be the hardest thing that she’s ever done,” Kevin responded.
“Well, she’s such a great conversationalist,” Mark concluded. “But I’m trying to keep her, like, to follow the rules. Follow the directions ... There’s a list of things that you’re not allowed to do. Talking, she has to eat soft foods. You can’t suck out of a straw. You can’t examine it, which means pulling down the lip ... It’s painful. But she famously doesn’t feel pain. When she goes into the dentist, she doesn’t really use the novocaine. But this one hurts, so I know it’s bad.”
When will Kelly Ripa return to Live With Kelly and Mark?
While the show hasn’t announced when Kelly will return to daytime TV, People noted that a rep for Live confirmed she’s expected to return in early August.
