It’s time to gear up, Law & Order: SVU fans.

As the hit NBC drama films its 28th season, viewers are anxious to know when Mariska Hargitay, Ice-T, Kelli Giddish, and more will return to the small screen. Well, the network already revealed that information—and we all missed it!

Thanks to a video posted on Instagram back in June, fans learned that Law & Order: SVU season 28 will premiere on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at 9 p.m. ET on NBC. What’s more, the show’s release date will coincide with the premiere of Law & Order season 26.

“Circle up squad!” the caption read alongside a clip of Mariska and Kelli, who play Olivia Benson and Amanda Rollins, respectively. “#LawAndOrder Thursdays return October 8 on NBC and next day on Peacock.”

Viewers were elated that new episodes were coming.

“WHOHOOOOOOOO!! Can’t wait to have my girl back ❤️,” one person wrote in the comments. “I’ve never been more excited ❤️❤️,” another penned. “Just marked the date on my calendar! Love me some Olivia Benson & company! 💯💯,” a different follower added.

Some had a major request for the new season.

“Omg I can't wait 👏🙌❤️ bring back Stabler. We need Olivia and Eliot together,” one person wrote, referencing Law & Order: Organized Crime, starring Christopher Meloni as Elliot Stabler, being canceled after five seasons. “Hope Stabler comes back, even if it’s just for a couple of episodes as a guest star! 🌟,” another agreed. “Bring Stabler backkkkkkk!!” a different follower exclaimed.

While we don’t know for sure what’s to come this season, we’re certainly going to mark our calendars!
