Law & Order: SVU fans, prepare for a basketball cameo.
Season 28 premieres October 8, 2026, on NBC, and fans are ready for more cases with Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay), her fellow first responders, and, of course, a few guest actors.
And in an exciting turn of events, we might have a clue as to who one of them could be: In an August 13 appearance on the Today show, Mariska hinted to Savannah Guthrie that fans may see New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson.
“Don’t tell anyone!” she jokingly whispered in a clip posted on Instagram. “But you might see him on SVU ... we’ve got some things in the works.”
“I won’t tell anyone!” Savannah responded in jest.
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard Mariska float the idea of Jalen guest starring. She previously mentioned the possibility back in May—something Savannah called out.
“We talked about it, you and I, I think the last time you were here,” Savannah said.
“I tell you a lot of secrets,” Mariska responded.
“Well, you tell me, and then it comes true!” Savannah replied. “So, we’ll have to manifest a few more—let’s cook up some more stuff!”
Fans were seriously excited by the prospect of seeing Jalen.
“I can't wait to watch Mariska with Jalen on SVU. ❤️,” one person wrote. “Omg OMG OMG 😱😍,” another exclaimed. “We all need to see Brunson on SVU 🔥,” a different follower added.
Jalen also commented on his hopes of making a cameo on SVU after winning the NBA Championships.
“Try to get on SVU,” he told a reporter about his next goal in a clip that was uploaded on the NBA’s official Instagram in June.
We’ll have to tune in to see!
