Tesco has just dropped a very exciting Easter egg inspired by one of Britain’s most beloved pub desserts: a sticky toffee pudding. And if you’re a fan of the humble STP, this is one launch you’ll want to seek out on your next supermarket run.
The egg in question is the Tesco Finest Sticky Toffee Showstopper Egg, and it really does live up to its name. Crafted from layers of Belgian milk chocolate and Italian blonde chocolate, the shell is filled with a rich, silky sticky-toffee-style sauce. Inside you’ll also find generous chunks of dates, caramel pieces and fudge, giving it all the flavour notes you’d expect from a proper sticky toffee pudding. Each egg has been hand-decorated by expert chocolatiers, making it feel very premium for an Easter treat.
But, be warned as it's a little hefty in price. It retails for £20 for a 220g egg, or £18 with a Tesco Clubcard, and is available in stores now.
Our experts at the Good Housekeeping Institute also put it to the test as part of their annual Easter egg taste test. The panel praised its “deep caramel notes with slight bitterness that adds a dessert-like edge”, adding that it “delivers a bold, indulgent treat for caramel lovers, with a clear sticky toffee element.”
What makes this egg particularly exciting is how well it captures the spirit of the classic dessert. Sticky toffee pudding is known for its comforting richness, sweet dates and indulgent sauce, and those flavours have clearly inspired every part of this chocolate creation.
We love sticky toffee pudding so much that this genuinely feels like a dream come true. It’s also the first time we’ve spotted an Easter egg dedicated entirely to the magnificent STP, which makes it stand out among the usual caramel and praline offerings lining supermarket shelves this year. If you’re someone who orders sticky toffee pudding every time it appears on a dessert menu, this might just be your perfect Easter egg.
