There’s definitely something nostalgic happening in the food world right now. From school dinner puddings making a comeback to classic flavour pairings popping up in unexpected places, it feels like we’re all craving a little taste of the past. And the latest brand to tap into that trend is Tyrrells.
The premium crisp brand (and one of our favourites at GH) has just launched a brand-new limited-edition English Ham & Mustard flavour, and it’s giving us some serious retro sandwich vibes. Think thick slices of salty, moreish ham, a generous swipe of punchy mustard and a proper British picnic - all packed into a bag of crisps.
Available from April, the new flavour blends the savoury richness of traditional ham with the warming kick of mustard. Resulting in a bold, slightly sharp and seriously delicious snack, with that classic Tyrrells crunch that makes them hard to stop eating once you’ve opened the bag...
And while they’re perfect for snacking straight from the bag, we can’t help but think these were made for a next-level crisp sandwich. Layer them into soft white bread or a French baguette with plenty of butter, salami and cheese, for a proper throwback lunch, or elevate things with crusty sourdough, extra ham and a touch of mayo. They’d also be brilliant alongside a ploughman’s or as a crunchy side for a summer salad.
The crisps come in 135g sharing bags (RRP £2.75) and will be available in Waitrose, Co-Op, Tesco and Morrisons. But as with all good things, they won’t be around forever. This is a limited-edition run, expected to last for around six months, so if you’re even slightly tempted, it’s worth picking up a bag sooner rather than later.
