Brownies have officially entered their “extra” era. Once a simple traybake, they’re now being topped with everything from cookie dough and Oreos to full-on dessert layers - and M&S is the latest brand to take them up a notch.

The retailer has just launched two new 'fully loaded' brownies, and they’re not holding back. Meet the Cornflake & Caramel Brownie and the Caramelised Pecan Pie Brownie, two indulgent bakes that lean heavily into texture, flavour and decadence..

Let’s start with the cornflake version. This one is all about contrast and crunch. A rich, fudgy chocolate base is topped with a layer of sticky caramel and finished with crisp cornflakes for that satisfying crunch. It taps into that nostalgic chocolate cornflake cake vibe (that we still very much love), but in a much more indulgent, grown-up way.

Then there’s the pecan pie brownie, which feels like a dessert hybrid done right. And everyone knows that pecans are the superior nut when it comes to desserts (sorry pistachio..). It's a soft brownie base with a sweet, nutty topping inspired by a classic pecan pie. The caramelised pecans add a buttery crunch and depth of flavour that makes it feel a little more elevated than your average chocolate treat.

And this is exactly where brownies are heading right now. They’re no longer just a chocolate affair, but rather a jazzed up version of their former self. Loaded, layered and designed to impress, they’re the kind of dessert that doubles as a centrepiece for gatherings or a standout addition to a picnic spread. Both new launches retail for £3.95 for 140g, and sit within M&S’s ever-expanding bakery line-up, which continues to push creative, slightly over-the-top treats.
