We’re big, big fans of a 3pm sugar hit. Usually, that means reaching for our go-to M&S Sunny Side Whips, but sometimes we’re after something a little less sickly. So when we spotted that M&S has quietly launched a new range of ‘gooey middle’ teacakes, we immediately dropped everything to investigate.
Now available in stores are two brand-new flavours: Rhubarb and Lemon. And choosing between the two flavours might be the hardest decision we’ll make all week. Fine, we'll just grab both.. 🤣
The rhubarb version features a vanilla-flavoured biscuit base, topped with a fluffy mallow layer and a soft, gooey rhubarb curd centre, all coated in smooth milk chocolate. It’s sweet, slightly tart and perfectly balanced, with that nostalgic teacake texture we all love.
The lemon version follows the same structure, but swaps in a zingy lemon curd filling. It’s bright, fresh and cuts through the sweetness beautifully, making it feel lighter than your usual chocolatey snack. If you like a bit of sharpness with your sweet treats, this might be the one for you. Both come in a 180g pack for £1.85, which is a bit of a bargain for something this indulgent.
And just when we thought it couldn’t get better, we also spotted a cappuccino-flavoured teacake with a crumbly chocolate biscuit base. Anything coffee-flavoured and we’re immediately sold, so this is definitely next on our list to try.
It looks like M&S is slowly rolling out its summer food range, and if these are anything to go by, we’re in for a very tasty few months ahead. Safe to say, our 3pm snack rotation just got a serious upgrade.
