Someone in the M&S food team is clearly working overtime right now because there seems to be a brand-new launch landing every single week. Not that we’re complaining - it just means we get to try even more fun food innovations. The latest product to grab our attention is their brand-new range of Pocket Pies. If you've ever eaten a pizza pockets - it's a bit like that!
There are four flavours in the line-up: BBQ Pork, Chicken Fajita, Spanakopita, and the one we’re most excited about, the Margherita Pizza Pocket Pie. Although fair warning: this absolutely feels like the kind of snack that will result in at least one burnt mouth from eating it too quickly.
The pies have already started appearing in stores, so if you’re tempted, you’ll want to move fast. Each one is wrapped in a buttery, flaky all-butter pastry and filled with globally inspired flavours designed for easy snacking. The BBQ Pork version combines pulled pork with a sweet smoky tomato barbecue sauce, while the Chicken Fajita brings gently spiced Mexican-inspired flavours. The Spanakopita takes cues from the classic Greek pastry with a cheesy spinach filling, and the Margherita Pizza version packs together sweet tomato and mature cheddar for a very comforting combination.
They’re designed to be eaten either cold straight from the pack or warmed up at home or in the office, making them perfect for a quick lunch or afternoon snack.
We’re also slightly obsessed with the packaging. Each flavour comes with its own playful illustrated character - from a smiling Statue of Liberty to a tiny cactus clutching pocket pies. The leaning tower of Pisa doing a little chef’s kiss might be our favourite though. It’s silly, charming and exactly the kind of thing that makes you want to throw one straight into your basket. Prices start from £3.40, with the BBQ Pork and Margherita Pizza versions retailing at £3.60 each.
