There was a sudden drop in temperature this week, but we hear that warmer weather is coming back onto the forecast - and just in time for another bank holiday! We're already starting to plan our long weekend in the sunshine, and Aldi has just dropped a drink that feels like it was the solution to our sunny afternoons in the garden. It's called the Baron Amarillo Sangria Frizzante, a sparkling sangria-inspired bottle that’s landing in stores from 21 May - and for only £3.99!

It's taken inspiration of Spain’s Sangria de Cava. Not had Sangria de Cava? It just uses sparkling wine in place of the red wine, but this Aldi bottle actually combines a lightly sparkling red wine base with bright orange and lemon flavours, giving it a refreshing and fruity taste, designed to be poured over ice. All you need to do is add a slice of orange and suddenly it’s giving full holiday feels, even if you’re only sitting outside in the UK for approximately 17 minutes before the weather changes again...

Aldi has become surprisingly good at these kinds of playful drinks launches lately too. From orange wines to colour-changing wine labels that tell you when the bottle is perfectly chilled, the supermarket has really leaned into making affordable wine feel more exciting and trend-led, and without compromising on quality, too.

The sparkling sangria arrives as part of a wider Spanish-inspired range hitting stores the same week, including tapas-style snacks, gazpacho, paella rice and pil pil prawns. In other words, everything you need for a very low-effort Spanish garden spread. Just make sure you take a siesta afterwards.

The Baron Amarillo Sangria Frizzante is only available for a limited time, and retails for £3.99 for a 75cl bottle. We suspect it would be an excellent addition to our rose wine sangria recipe above. Enjoy!
