If today is feeling a bit too Monday, here’s something to look forward to.
Krispy Kreme is celebrating National Doughnut Day by giving away a very generous 26,000 free Original Glazed doughnuts across the UK this Friday (5 June).
It’s a first-come, first-served situation, with no purchase, voucher or app required. But be warned: once they’re gone, they're gone.
How to get a free Krispy Kreme doughnut on National Doughnut Day
Here's the need to know:
- Date: Friday 5 June
- Available in all 120 Krispy Kreme shops
- No voucher, app or purchase necessary
- One free Original Glazed doughnut per customer
- Available on a first-come, first-served basis
What if you miss out?
If you miss out on your free doughnut, good news: Krispy Kreme will be selling half-priced boxes of the Original Glazed dozens all-day. The perfect treat for the office, if you ask us...
Usually priced at £14.99, the boxes will cost £7.49 on the day – that works out at around 62p per doughnut!
Why National Doughnut Day is celebrated
It will come as no surprise that National Doughnut Day originated in the US, but you may be surprised to learn that it dates back to 1938.
The day was originally invented by The Salvation Army to honour the women who served doughnuts to soldiers during the First World War. Today, it’s celebrated on the first Friday in June, often with special offers and giveaways.
Which Krispy Kreme shops are taking part?
All 120 Krispy Kreme stores across the UK and Northern Ireland will be participating in the giveaway.
However, it’s worth noting that the offer is only available in Krispy Kreme stores and does not include self-service kiosks found in supermarkets such as Sainsbury’s.
You can use Krispy Kreme’s store locator to find your nearest participating shop.
With 26,000 free doughnuts, you’ve got a good chance of claiming one, but it’s worth arriving early if you’re hoping to get lucky!
