I'm sure we aren't the only ones who still think about that iconic scene in Matilda where Bruce Bogtrotter is forced to tackle an enormous chocolate cake in front of the entire school. It's one of the most memorable food moments in film history. Thankfully, ASDA has taken a much kinder approach than Miss Trunchbull and turned the idea into a cake that we're actually being encouraged to enjoy.

Available in ASDA stores now is the Matilda Bigfoot Fudge Cake - a towering creation that is every bit as indulgent as its cinematic inspiration. The cake features an impressive 12 layers of rich Belgian chocolate brownie and caramelised white chocolate fudge pieces, stacked together to create what can only be described as a chocolate lover's dream.

And this thing is seriously substantial. Weighing in at a whopping 1kg, it's the kind of cake that immediately becomes the centrepiece of any gathering. At £16, it officially serves around 10 people, although we reckon you could easily stretch it further depending on how generous you're feeling with the slices.

The combination of dense brownie, creamy fudge and plenty of chocolate throughout makes it feel much more like a celebration cake than an everyday supermarket bake. It looks rich, dramatic and completely over the top in the best possible way.

We can already imagine this becoming a popular choice for birthday parties, office celebrations, dinner parties and summer get-togethers. It's the sort of cake that gets people talking the moment it arrives at the table.

And while it may have been inspired by Bruce Bogtrotter's famous challenge, we'd strongly advise against trying to tackle the whole thing in one sitting...
