Even supermodels have to look after their health. Yasmin Le Bon shared a picture of a delicious crunchy salad on Instagram, telling her followers: 'I'm now on day 4 of my new HBD life!'
She goes on: 'It is a game changer! You know... woman of a certain age... blood tests going the wrong way, this is my way forward. About time!'
Yasmin, who is married to Duran Duran lead singer Simon Le Bon and has three daughters Amber, Saffron and Tallulah, previously revealed to Hello! magazine how pushing her body to the limits during her modelling career took its toll on her health, and the back pain she's suffered as a result. 'I feel very blessed in life; I've been unbelievably lucky. But you know my world – like everyone's – is not perfect and doesn't smell of roses all the time. And I think it can be really difficult,' she said.
So what is Yasmin's new game-changing 'HBD' life?
The HBD or 'Human Being Diet' is the brainchild of nutritionist Petronella Ravenshear, who devised the programme for herself when her weight started to creep up in menopause. 'I was eating less and less, doing more exercise and I was getting fatter and fatter,' says Petronella.
She believes harsh calorie restriction and intense exercise actually lower metabolic rate - and this is a problem that becomes much more pressing as we age and our body shape changes. When her own weight began to increase, she devised the HBD programme - a variation of the Mediterranean diet, involving 5 hour fasts between meals, and fresh, unprocessed food with the emphasis on protein, fruit and vegetables.
The aim, she says, is to say goodbye to the 'sugar monster' and stabilise insulin levels; followers rave about its ability to curb cravings, regulate hormones - with the happy side effect of weightloss. Sounds good to us!
