Attention cosy crime drama fans, The Madame Blanc Mysteries is making its way back to our screens for a fifth instalment - and some surprise new faces are on board for its emotional return! The beyond brilliant new series (wait until you hear the details) will find our favourite amateur sleuth Jean White (Sally Lindsay) and her taxi driver fiancé preparing to walk down the aisle – but judging by new storyline, they might not actually make it.

The pair, who will be joined by all the cast regulars and some exciting guest stars, will be dealing with plenty of murder mysteries along the way in what’s set to be a rollercoaster series. Andy Morgan, Executive Producer at Clapperboard, says of the new episodes. “Our hats are at the ready, as Jean and Dom plan their much-anticipated wedding, but we’ll have to wait and see if they make it down the aisle, as things are never straightforward in St Victoire.” Intrigued? Us too!

Ahead of The Madame Blanc Mysteries’ return to our screens, here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming fifth series, including the plot, new cast and how to watch it.

The series, which first aired in 2021 and is both created by and stars Sally Lindsay, is set in the sun-soaked village of Sainte Victoire in the south of France, where Jean White (played by Sally) is an antiques dealer turned amateur sleuth. When her husband Rory (Peter Gaynor) is killed in a car crash, she’s left penniless thanks to all her assets having been pawned off, so what does she do? Set out to solve the mystery of her husband’s death, of course.

With the help of local taxi driver, Dom (Steve Edge), she works to unravel the mystery behind Rory’s missing valuable ring, the identity of the woman with whom he appeared to be having an affair with – and how he ended up dead. It is, as you might expect, only the beginning of Jean’s investigative work, as she soon turns her sleuthing talents to other cases, too.

The fifth series will see all the treasured regulars return and it’s set to be quite the emotional rollercoaster as it picks up with Jean and Dom planning their wedding. How lovely, you might think, but nothing can prepare them for the unseen obstacles that crop up along the way. Over the course of the seven episodes, a dead body is found in one of the show’s iconic locations, Uncle Patrick hosts the pub quiz of the century at La Couronne, Judith (Sue Holderness) and Jeremy (Robin Askwith) face a heart‑wrenching dilemma, and the bodies continue to stack up when someone is found foaming at the mouth in St Victoire Theatre.
