It's officially Chelsea Flower Show week, and the event kicked off with a private visit from the Royal Family on Monday evening (18 May), following the press preview day. The King and Queen, Princess Anne and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh arrived with selected special guests to see the gardens and installations at this years' show. This included a garden created in collaboration with The King's Foundation.
For the visit, Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh proved the best dressed guest in a soft, petal pink trench coat over matching trousers and a floral blouse. The Duchess accessorised with a woven handbag and espadrille wedges as she joined her husband, Prince Edward, for the visit, who wore a classic, double-breasted trench.
Sophie's coat appears to be the Theory 'Oaklane crepe trench coat' in 'pastel pink', which is currently less than half price. At the Outnet, the price is reduced (at time of writing) from £595 to £268, which is a 55% reduction. It comes in sizes XS to XL, but some sizes are already beginning to sell out, so be quick if you want to snap it up!
Alternatively, if you don't want to spend quite that much on the coat but are still keen to emulate Sophie's style, we've rounded up some similar choices from across the high street. At M&S, you'll find this Sosander 'Belted Double Breasted Trench Coat' for £89, which is stocked up to size 20:
Mango have a slighter sweeter, candyfloss pink trench with oversized sleeves for a bolder silhouette. The 'Belted Midi Trench Coat, Pink' is available at John Lewis in S, M and L for £199:
You could also tone down the pink with more of a stone shade, like this other Sosander option from Tu. It comes in a great range of of sizes and a fair price point at £105:
Or, for something a little warmer, we love this brushed coat from Nobody's Child, which delivers the same chic effect while being a little more substantial for cooler weather:
This year, The King collaborated (via his foundation) with Alan Titchmarsh and Sir David Beckham on a special garden display. The trio were united on Monday evening to see the finished The RHS and The King's Foundation Curious Garden, alongside other members of the Royal Family and guest Dame Judi Dench. A video of their visit was shared to the offical royal Instagram account.
Next month, The Duchess of Edinburgh will be revealing her own first garden design at the Royal Windsor Flower Show, on Saturday 6 June.
Chelsea Flower Show is open to members Tuesday 19 May and Wednesday 20 May, and to the ticket-holding public from Thursday 21 May.
