Florals? For spring/summer? Not particularly groundbreaking, we know, but they’re a classic for a reason. And the high street is delivering the goods, with all sorts of pieces in floral prints that are ideal for the warmer weather. Plus, many of those prints have a slight twist that make flowers feel brand new.
Take this sundress, worn by Cat Deeley on This Morning last week. Rather than the teeny-tiny florals we’re used to seeing, this one has a bigger, bolder design, complete with red poppies and yellow azaleas. The adjustable tie straps and nipped-in waist make it a dress that will suit everybody, while the brightness of the print means it doesn’t need any additional accessories – you could wear it just like Cat, with just a sleek pair of low heels.
Note: the dress is in the final slide of Cat's outfit carousel, so keep swiping!
The dress is by French label Sézane but, unfortunately for us, it’s currently sold out. The good news, though, is that Sézane has other great pieces in the same print that are still in stock. But we’d advise moving fast, as they’re likely to sell out, too.
First off, the shirt. It’s under £100 and will look just as brilliant worn more casually, with a pair of linen shorts or white trousers, as it will for dressed-up occasions. Try pairing it with a silk skirt for a breezy feel.
Or you could hack your own floral dress by matching the shirt with the skirt. The skirt will also look great with a simple white tee.
And your final option in this print is the Vikaly blouse, with short sleeves and sweet matching buttons down the front. This is another great option for the hotter months as it’s made entirely from super-breathable organic fabrics: flax and silk.
Alternatively, if you don’t have your heart set on this exact print but want a dress with a similar feel (i.e. a bigger, more graphic floral print), we’ve found some options below...
Here’s a scoop-neck style with a super-flattering empire-line shape, currently in Kitri’s closing-down sale.
We love the vibrant colours on this cotton silk bias-cut dress from Australian label Zulu & Zephyr.
And if you’re particularly keen on poppies, this Never Fully Dressed dress could fit the bill. Ideal for any weddings you have coming up.
Monsoon livens up florals further with the addition of a toucan. Why not?
And finally, the colours on this dress from Hobbs are properly punchy and will look great season after season. Plus: pockets!
Cat is clearly a big fan of Sézane (and rightly so – it’s a great brand for everyday staples and more statement pieces), having also worn a belt from the label last week and Sézane trousers the week before. The brand is also loved by everyone from the Princess of Wales to Sienna Miller. With an abundance of fashion-forward dresses, shirts and jeans that deliver all the French chicness you could ask for, we’d advise adding Sézane to your to-be-browsed list, sharpish.
