It's a busy week for Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, who has travelled to Portugal for an official visit alongside her husband, Prince Edward. On Monday (1 June), the couple opened their trip in Lisbon and went to meet the local mayor in the city's park. For the joint engagement, Sophie re-wore a silk maxi dress with a romantic connection to her husband.
To meet Mayor Carlos Moedas in Jardim de Estrela, The Duchess wore a white, long sleeve shirt dress with a green and brown print, which she previously wore to celebrate her 26th wedding anniversary with Prince Edward. As is their tradition, the pair marked the special occasion together by enjoying a day out at Royal Ascot, where Sophie wore the stylish dress by one of her favourite designers, Suzannah London.
Sophie wears the 'Veronique Full Length Silk Tea Dress Clover Floral x Rachel Levy' which is currently reduced by 70% from £1,590 to £477, although only available (at time of writing), in one size:
In case you don't manage to snap up The Duchess' exact dress, we have found a very similar long sleeve dress at M&S. The Hobbs dress is also made from silk for the luxury feel as Sophie's (without the £1000+ price tag), and features the same style print. The dress is the perfect summer occasion wear and will work year after year, helping justify the slightly steeper price, as a higher end investment piece.
After their visit to the city park, The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh were accompanied by Mayor Carlos Moedas for a tram ride. Their visit to Portugal is taking place to mark the 640th anniversary of the Treaty of Windsor which 'cemented the Anglo-Portuguese partnership, the world’s oldest diplomatic alliance' according to the Royal Family.
While there, the couple unveiled the first display of the treaty in its English and Portuguese translations and were also invited to a garden party, which was hosted at the Ambassador’s Residence.
