The Royal Family might be regularly out and about around the country and active on social media, but we don’t always get a direct insight into what their lives and relationships are like behind the scenes. While there are always plenty of sources and speculation, it’s rare that we hear the royals comment themselves – until recently, that is. At an event this week, The Princess of Wales made an off-hand comment which gave a touching insight into her 15 year marriage to Prince William.

During a special reception at St James’ Palace on Tuesday 2 June, The Princess of Wales chats to a group of guests, who share their affection for Prince William. ‘Yeah, we love him!’ they tell her. Kate laughs and nods as she’s turning away, but then quickly turns back, putting her hand on her heart, and gushing ‘so do I!’ with a grin. The candid moment was captured on camera and shared to a royal fan account. The interaction reveals a seemingly genuine and heartfelt response regarding her love for her husband, and suggests the pair are genuinely close.

The Princess of Wales joined King Charles and Queen Camilla at a reception to mark 125 years of Cancer Research UK. With both Kate and The King revealing their own cancer journeys in the last couple of years, the cause is one especially close to their hearts, and that of the extended Royal Family.

Last month, Prince William took part in a special radio show take-over, joining Heart Breakfast with Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden as co-presenter from the Isles of Scilly. While on air, Prince William opened up about his admiration for his wife and gave an insight into their daily life as a family, with a level of detail and candour we hadn’t seen before. ‘She’s an amazing mum and an amazing wife and literally our family couldn’t cope without her. She’s been absolutely stunning,’ Prince William told hosts Jamie and Amanda.

He said he was ‘very, very proud’ of how The Princess of Wales has coped through treatment and recovery from cancer saying, ‘she’s been amazing. She’s been through so much in the last few years.’

Prince William also revealed their busy family morning routine, revealing the school rush in their household could be just as chaotic as anyone else’s. 'It depends if there’s a guitar lesson going on in the morning - a music lesson - you’ve got to get the guitar in the car. No, we’re not taking the guitar, we need the bag for school. Are we boarding [overnight at school]? No, we’re not. Are we seeing friends? No, we’re not. So there’s all that going on in the morning,' he confessed.
