It's been a busy week for the Royal Family, as the Order of the Garter follows just days after The King's official Trooping the Colour birthday parade. On Monday (15 June), the senior royals were out in force again for another traditional event, this time to celebrate those in public service. King Charles and Queen Camilla led the event alongside The Prince and Princess of Wales and Sophie, Duchess of of Edinburgh. All were dressed their best for the day, with Kate choosing an especially significant pair of earrings for the occasion.
Arriving for the Order of the Garter service at Windsor Castle, The Princess of Wales waved to crowds from a carriage procession, sitting alongside Prince William. For the occasion, she wore a butter yellow ensemble, with a button-up coat dress by Patrick McDowell, and a matching, wide-brimmed hat. According to Vogue, the custom outfit was created from 'a bespoke English rose silk damask, in collaboration with Britain’s oldest silk mill, Stephen Walters, in Sudbury.'
To accessorise, Kate added a pair of stunning diamond droplet earrings with a romantic connection to the husband sitting beside her - they're the same pair she wore for her wedding. The earrings are particularly poignant because they were created especially for the Princess to wear on her special day, and because it was her parents Carole and Micheal Middleton who gifted her the special set.
The earrings were created by Robinson Pelham for the ceremony at Westminster Abbey. They were seen again this week in Windsor, following The Prince and Princess of Wales' 15 year wedding anniversary, which took place a few weeks ago (29 April).
While at the event, The Princess of Wales was seen chatting and laughing with Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, who opted for one of her favourite designers for the special service. Sophie chose a long-sleeved midi dress in floral by Suzannah London, accessorising with a soft pink scarf and clutch bag. The Duchess wore the Gabriella Silk Tea Dress Larkspur in white, which is currently sold out.
The Order of the Garter is a historic event steeped in tradition which traces back more than 700 years, and is the nation's most senior Order of Chivalry. 'Companions of the Garter are chosen personally by the Sovereign to honour those who have held public office, who have contributed in a particular way to national life or who have served the Sovereign personally,' explains the Royal Family in a social media post.
