It's set to be the biggest wedding of the year, with intense speculation around almost every detail - not least the date, which is expected to be early this month. The couple in question are, of course, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. One of the biggest topics circulating the rumour mill has been the guest list, with big names - and even royalty - expected to make the cut. And if there's one couple who know a thing or two about a famous wedding, it's the Prince and Princess of Wales.
Last month, Prince William himself hinted that there might be an invitation in the post to the famous nuptials. Speaking on Heart breakfast radio, Prince William discussed the singer's music, and he was asked whether he would be attending the wedding. 'No comment. That feels like a showbiz excuse but it’s not,' Prince William began, laughing. However, he then softened adding, 'No, I’m hoping and I’m sure that there might be an invitation around.' For weeks, it's therefore been presumed that the Prince and Princess of Wales would be attending Taylor and Travis' wedding.
On Tuesday (30 July), US media People said that it had exclusive confirmation the couple would not be attending, making headlines across the UK today. It may be that the Prince and Princess were indeed invited, but have decided not to attend. Whether the reasons are around security, not wanting to distract from Taylor's big moment, scheduling or personal decision, we don't yet know. However, given how many details about the big day are still under wraps, nothing would surprise us!
One royal who would surely love to be there on Taylor's special day is Princess Charlotte, who Prince William revealed is 'obsessed' with the singer. During the radio show, he chose to play the song 'Opalite' in her honour, adding that Prince Louis was also a fan. Prince William even took Princess Charlotte and Prince George to watch Taylor's Eras tour, and they had the chance to meet the star backstage.
'We went to see her on her Eras tour and it was amazing,' he said. 'The atmosphere was so incredible you could actually feel the floors shaking when they were all dancing.' Prince William was speaking on Heart Breakfast with Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden during a special co-hosted episode from the Isles of Scilly, where he was visiting to support the local hospital and wider area.
