Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh made a special trip to Wales this week (Tuesday 21 July) to visit the Royal Welsh Show as patron. For the occasion, she chose a green and orange print midi, which may just be her most versatile dress yet. The best news? It's still available to buy online (in two designs!), but stock is selling out fast.
On Tuesday, The Duchess arrived at the Royal Welsh Show in Llanelwedd, Builth Wells, which was her first visit as patron of Association of Show and Agricultural Organisations (ASAO). Sophie has been a long-time advocate for farming and rural communities, and she spent the day meeting exhibitors and staff at the event, as well as chatting to members, visitors - and some of the animals, of course.
For her summer day out, The Duchess chose a vibrant, printed midi dress by British brand Lexy London, with orange detailing and puff sleeves. It's actually available in two designs, one with a light frill around the collar and a tie waist, the other with a tassle at the waist.
Both feature a clever trick which makes the dress a fully adjustable and therefore exceptionally versatile piece - the hem of the dress can be raised or lowered depending on preferred fit (or occasion!). The brand promises it will adjust the length 'without loosing the shape of the dress'.
Sophie has worn other pieces by the brand before, and this time wears the 'Gudrun' in 'Helibore'. The tassle version is the 'Tara'. Both look set to be a sell-out, as stock in some sizes out already (at time of writing):
If you can't find your size (or want a similar style at a lower price point), then Matalan's 'Roman Blue Tie Front Frill Midi Dress' is a brilliant alternative for £55:
The White Stuff's 'Floral Notch Neck Midaxi Tiered Dress' is also a great choice for summer, in a vibrant green pint:
And, for a slightly different cut, Nobody's Child is a great bet, especially as the 'Green Ditsy Floral Tiered Dara Midi Dress' comes in 8 pattern choices:
The Duchess also added a chic, sand-coloured blazer over her dress as she met with Girl Guides Cymru on her arrival at the show.
