The Commonwealth Games have officially kicked off in Glasgow for 2026 and, of course, the King and Queen were there to mark the exciting moment. King Charles was slated to announce the opening of the games but what the public didn't know was that he was planning to arrive in a rather mind-blowing way - echoing the iconic entrance of his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II at the 2012 Olympics.

During Danny Boyle's opening London Olympics opening ceremony, Her Majesty famously took part in a now legendary sketch with Daniel Craig as James Bond. During a video which was played at the ceremony, we saw the actor meeting the Queen at Buckingham Palace, before the they took a helicopter ride across London and 'parachuted' into the live stadium.

For the first major sporting event hosted in the UK since becoming monarch, King Charles proved he had his mother's humour as he arrived at the stadium in the iconic blue police phone box - the TARDIS - from Doctor Who. The British show is loved all over the world. Scottish actors David Tennant and Peter Capaldi have both played lead role, while the original police boxes were created by Scottish architect Gilbert MacKenzie Trench, making it the perfect fit for Glasgow's big event. You can watch the full video of their exciting video from Balmoral to Glasgow below:

King Charles and Queen Camilla waved to the huge crowds as they stepped out of the famous blue box, before King Charles took to the spotlight to officially announce the start of the games.

Years after Queen Elizabeth II's iconic Bond sketch, Her Majesty surprised the nation again by taking part in another short - this time with the nation's best-loved bear, Paddington. To celebrate her historic Platinum Jubilee, she met Paddington for tea. After a hilarious few clumsy incidents in true Paddington style, he offers the Queen a marmalade sandwich before she reveals she already has one in her handbag.

As the jubilee party gets started outside with a band playing the opening notes of 'We Will Rock You' by Queen, the pair join in with the beat by tapping on their cups and saucers with their teaspoons.

Now that King Charles and Queen Camilla have taken part in their own sketch themed around an iconic piece of British media, perhaps we can expect more from them - and even other members of the Royal Family - in the future.
