We've all got one of those items in our wardrobe which we just can't get enough of and, for Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, it's a particular jacket style that we see her bring out time and time again. This week, for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh wore a fail-proof favourite again, which one of the most versatile pieces of any wardrobe as it works with so many different looks.
On Thursday (30 July), Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh made her way north to Glasgow, Scotland, for the 2026 Commonwealth Games. She was joined by her husband, Prince Edward (youngest brother of the King), and her sister-in-law, Princess Anne with husband Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence. For the event, we saw Sophie re-wore a favourite design of hers - a beige linen blazer - in not one but two styles.
The Duchess has worn the pinstriped jacket before, and a number like it, for various occasions. Most recently, to promote her first garden design at Royal Windsor Flower Show. While Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh's blazers tend to be designer choices which aren't available online any more, the good news is there are plenty of similar alternatives available on the high Street.
This means you can replicate her look with a similar jacket. A neutral blazer like this is completely timeless, and ideal for summer when you need a smart cover up which goes with everything, but isn't going to be too warm:
In Glasgow, Sophie was in the stands watching all the action at the Commonwealth Games, and was snapped enjoying the athletics with her husband and Princess Anne. The royals joined on the seventh day of the Games. However, the event kicked off with an exciting royal opening, too, as King Charles and Queen Camilla had a starring role in the opening ceremony.
The pair emerged on stage out of the iconic TARDIS from Doctor Who, and waved to the crowds before King Charles officially announced the games were open. The TARDIS was a fitting choice, given that the original police box was invented by Scottish architect, Gilbert MacKenzie Trench. The TV show is a huge part of British culture loved all over the world - making it ideal addition for an international event held in Scotland. The Commonwealth Games continue.
