Wondering what to wear? Wondering what to watch? Well, Suranne Jones might just have solved all of your problems (okay, at least when it comes to fashion and entertainment). Promoting the latest series of her hit show, Vigil, this week, Suranne appeared on The One Show in an iconic outfit which seriously caught our eye.
On Monday (24 August), Suranne joined the team at BBC’s The One Show to discuss the third series of the hotly anticipated Vigil. And, for the occasion, Suranne opted for a sleek new look, adopting what we’re calling the ‘reverse crop’ suit. The reason? Suranne proved that there’s more than one way to wear a crisp white shirt other than prim, proper and tucked in. Instead, Suranne wore hers loose, with a cropped blazer over the top, allowing the relaxed edge of her shirt to flow out underneath.
Rather than folding the tails under the waistband of a pair of trousers and adding a mid length blazer, Suranne’s deliberately untucked look felt cool and effortlessly ‘undone’, with the cropped blazer accentuating the contrast.
And, while Suranne offers endless inspiration for how to style it, a classic white shirt is a wardrobe staple however you choose to wear it. Emulate Suranne’s look (or style your own) with a classic cotton option - like M&S’ which is a steal at only £18:
This weekend, the third series of Vigil returns to our screens, with Suranne’s character detective Amy Silva taking on a new investigation. Rose Leslie also returns as her partner, Kristen for the new season which, this time, takes place in the Artic. With series one taking place on a submarine and series two on an air base, it makes sense that Amy would once again find herself in a remote and hard to reach location.
A tense trailer (above) reveals snippets of what’s to come. There are hints that the death she’s investigating has links to Russia which could create wider political problems, and that the investigation will leave Amy wondering who she can really trust...
Vigil returns to BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Sunday 30 August.
