Catherine, Princess of Wales, made a surprise visit to The Royal Marsden Hospital in London today (Friday 11 September, 2026) – the same place where she received treatment in 2024. Today, her appearance was to learn more about how funds raised by her completion of the National Three Peaks Challenge have helped people facing cancer.

The Princess of Wales told staff that her visit was a ‘small way’ to thank them for the ‘incredible’ treatment she received two years ago. She was able to see how her physical feats raised money that would go towards building a new specialist centre for holistic wellbeing and recovery at the hospital.

For the occasion, Catherine relied on an old favourite: a dark green double-breasted shirt dress from Suzannah London (a label that’s loved by lots of royals). She paired this with a simple pair of black slingback heels.

This particular dress has been spotted on the Princess of Wales before. Back in 2023, she wore the 1940s style to visit London-based charity Anna Freud as part of that year’s Mental Health Awareness Week.

If you’d like to nab the exact dress, you can, as it’s still on sale – but with a £2,790 price tag, it’s not exactly a budget-friendly buy. The good news is, though, that there are quite a few similar versions on the high street that will recreate Catherine’s elegant style. Look for a short-sleeved shirt dress in a timeless shade of deep green.

We’ve picked out some of our favourite options ahead. First up, this Ghost style has similar puff sleeves to the one Catherine is wearing and it’s a far more reasonable £99. The gentle frill along the sleeves and under the bust adds a romantic flourish, while the gently flowing shape will flatter all bodies.

Finery London has its own take on a green midi dress, again with the flatters-everyone shape of a tea dress, covered buttons and puff sleeves. This one, though, is just £49.

And finally, in a more olive tone, rather than Kate’s usual forest green, Boden has a lovely shirt dress with short sleeves and a concealed button placket for £129.

The Princess of Wales shared a powerful message around why supporting the hospital is so important to her. ‘This was my small way of being able to give back and say thank you to you,’ she said. ‘I had incredible care here and support from a huge team and I’m really really grateful on a personal level. But also the holistic care – the treatments and therapeutic support alongside the clinical pathway – is so important. It makes a big difference.

‘The impact of nature, the impact of good nutrition, good ongoing support around you when it’s really difficult to manage the trials and tribulations of medical treatments – it makes a big difference. It made a big difference to me and it made a huge difference to lots of patients who I’ve spoken to. Thank you and well done. I think it will be transformative not only for patients but for families, too.’
