It's no secret that Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex have decided to move back to the UK with their children. The surprise news was revealed over the summer, shortly after Prince Harry's visit to attend the Invictus Games in Birmingham. Now, the couple have shared the first footage of their time enjoying the UK, since the big move announced.
Taking to Instagram, Meghan posted a compilation video of herself, husband Prince Harry and their two children, Princess Lilibet and Prince Archie exploring the UK countryside. The majority of the clips are filmed outdoors, showing the family splashing in muddy puddles, trekking through the woods and warming their toes by the fire. In one particular clip, Prince Harry can be seen teaching Lilibet and Archie a classic royal hobby; fishing.
The Royal Family have long been fans of the outdoors, with the late Queen Elizabeth II having been frequently photographed trudging across the grounds of Balmoral over the years. They're therefore well known for their love of outdoor pursuits, from horse-riding to shooting. In the new video (above), the royal can be seen in a small boat, arming his children with fishing rods - a hobby his father, King Charles, enjoys. Princess Lilibet sits in the centre of the boat, shaking her rod and she learns the ropes of fishing. A close up of some murky water shows some fish splashing around, so hopefully the family managed to hook one or two!
It's not known what prompted the family's decision to move back to the UK, or what the couple plan to do while they're here. We do know, however, that Prince Harry and Meghan won't be returning to royal duties, as the King confirmed in an official letter.
According to the BBC, the letter reaffirmed that the couple would still be operating in a 'private capacity' as they are 'no longer working members of the Royal Family'. This means they won't be using titles of 'His and Her Royal Highness'. This also appears to rule out the option for them to do some official royal duties while continuing private business interests.
For now, the couple will likely be focusing on settling into their new home and getting Princess Lilibet and Prince Archie ready in their new schools. Last week, the children's cousin, Prince George, stared his own new school. He arrived alongside his parents, the Prince and Princess of Wales, for his first day at Eton College. His father, Prince William, went to the same school when he was a teenager, making it a full circle moment as he walked his eldest child to the same school gates.
