Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh has had a busy month so far, representing the Royal Family on an official solo visit to Zambia. And, in a new video summarising her successful visit, she can be seen wearing a midi skirt combo which has just solved our autumn layering dilemmas.
The Duchess spent five days in Zambia visiting a wide range of organisations last week (Monday 14 September to Friday 25 September). The Royal Family shared a video compilation of her successful visit to its official social media account, revealing some of the highlights of her trip. In the first clip, the Duchess can be seen showing off some of her dane moves wearing what appears to be a navy midi dress. In fact, she's wearing a co-ordinating top and skirt, both by Penelope Chilvers - a brand she turns to often.
Sophie wears the 'Silk Bow Blouse' (a top she has been pictured in before) with the 'Silk Skirt' both by Penelope Chilvers. This duo is the perfect two-in-one wardrobe hack as the pieces work perfectly as a complete look, but can be mixed and matched with other items for maximum wear. This also means they are both particularly ideal for layering and coping with the changeable temperatures of autumn in the UK. Genius!
While we're big fans of Sophie's exact look (and you can still find it online) the complete outfit comes to £514, which is a little steep for most of us. However, the good news is that we've found a double of her outfit for almost a third of the price.
Mint Velvet's 'Indigo Tiered Denim Midi Skirt' (£99) and 'Indigo Denim Puff Sleeve Shirt' (£89) duo cost £188 together - that's more than 60% less:
For something in a more relaxed fabric, Mondo Corsini's combo are another good option, at £290 for both:
Or, if you're after an exact match, you can go for Penelope Chilver's top and skirt here:
The Duchess of Edinburgh has now finished her visit to the Republic of Zambia, with the Royal Family explaining the aim of her trip was to celebrate the relationship between nation and and the UK. The programme of activities she undertook was designed to highlight shared interests, which included 'gender equality, climate and nature, and education and research partnerships.'
