It's here, it's finally here! The new series of The Great British Bake Off – the first with Nigella Lawson joining Paul Hollywood as judge – has landed, with the first episode kicking off with cake week.

To begin series 17 of GBBO, contestants were challenged to take on one of Nigella's signature bakes; a stout cake. After a challenging technical, the showstopper portion of proceedings asked the bakers to create self-portraits out of cake. Easy, right? We're always making accurate self-portraits out of baked goods.

And what did Nigella wear for the occasion? The very outfit we spied in the promotional shots for the new series: a navy blue jumpsuit by ME + EM. We've been fans of this jumpsuit since its first appearance. The tie at the waist – in the exact same colour as the jumpsuit – creates such a flattering silhouette, while the wide leg design feels fresh. Nigella has also worn a jumpsuit from the brand in a vivid purple shade, which is, of course, fantastic.

The bad news for all of us is that both of the Me + Em jumpsuits have completely sold out. Such is the power of Nigella.

But the good news (along with the return of The Great British Bake Off to our screens) is that we've found a strikingly similar item that's still available for purchase and currently has 20% off. Like Nigella's, this Phase Eight jumpsuit is in an easy-to-wear shade of navy blue, has a slight flare to the trouser legs, and features a tie belt to accentuate the waist. Plus, it's a zip-up style – so you don't need to faff about with a bunch of buttons every time you nip to the loo.

It's worth noting that this outfit is a prime example of the secret trick Nigella uses to make every outfit super flattering. It's a technique that works for absolutely everyone, and requires very little effort. All you need is a belt fastened at the waist, in the same colour as the dress or jumpsuit underneath it. That way, you draw the eye in at the waist without any interrupting horizontal lines, creating an hourglass effect.

Obviously, Nigella looks incredible in anything she wears. But if we can pick up one of her hacks, we're in... whether that's making the best tray of brownies or deciding what to wear every day.
