Remember Me
This ghost story set in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, is the perfect Halloween watch. Tom Parfitt (Michael Palin) is a frail, old Yorkshireman who stages a fall in his house so he can move into a residential home. When he arrives, he’s the sole witness to a woman toppling out of a window, leaving him at the centre of a baffling investigation. Teenage care assistant Hannah (Jodie Comer) is determined to prove his innocence but she starts having terrifying nightmares. It’s spooky, jumpy and surprisingly poignant. Remember Me is available to watch now on ITVX.
Her Big Chance
A remake of Alan Bennett’s 1988 Talking Heads series, Jodie recreates Julie Walters’ performance of Her Big Chance – and she's every bit as impressive. The episode sees the Killing Eve step into the shoes of actress Lesley, who prides herself on her professionalism. She’s thrilled when she lands a new role as Travis, a career girl who enjoys life - this could be the role that sees her career take off. But things are not all as they seem – and she spends a remarkable amount of time topless. Her Big Chance is available to watch now on Prime Video.
The White Princess
Based on the novel by Philippa Gregory, this brilliant period drama takes us to Tudor England and centres around the marriage of Henry VII (Jacob Collins-Levy) and Elizabeth of York (Jodie Comer). Their union ended the Wars of the Roses and brought together the houses of Lancaster and York. But resentment bubbles beneath the seemingly perfect facade and the real battle for the throne is far from over. Expect wild plotting and sumptuous period outfits. The White Princess is available to watch now on Channel 4.
Help
Stephen Graham joins Jodie Comer in this heartbreaking drama that shines a light on the systemic failures during the Covid-19 pandemic. Creator Jack Thorne (the genius behind Adolescence) takes us to a fictional Liverpool care home during the pandemic. Jodie plays Sarah, a young care worker who has found her calling in caring for others. Tony (played by Stephen) is a 47-year-old patient with young-onset Alzheimer’s, with whom Sarah has a special bond. Despite doing all she can, the care home becomes ravaged with Covid – and there’s only so far she and her fellow staff members’ heroic efforts can go. It’s harrowing, human and incredibly important viewing. Help is available to watch now on Channel 4.
Killing Eve
No Jodie Comer round-up would be complete without Killing Eve. Her role in the hit spy thriller as the psychotic yet charming assassin Villanelle saw the actor reach international acclaim. The series follows Eve (Sandra Oh), an MI5 security officer whose desk-bound job doesn’t fulfil her fantasies of being a spy. When she starts to investigate a new series of killings, she gets caught up in an exhilarating game of cat-and-mouse around the world and both women becoming utterly obsessed with each other. Killing Eve is available to watch now on Netflix.
The Bikeriders
Jodie joins Tom Hardy and Austin Butler in this excellent crime drama about the Vandals Motorcycle Club in 1960s Chicago. The story is mainly told through the eyes of Kathy (played by Jodie), who falls in love with rebellious and reckless biker Benny (Austin Butler). She's drawn into the dangerous world of the bikers, led by Johnny (Tom Hardy). Kathy recounts the Vandals’ story from a community of outsiders to something more sinister entirely. The trio are forced to make choices about their loyalty to the club – and each other. Jodie is, as ever, faultless and perfectly masters the Windy City's accent. The Bikeriders is available to watch now on Prime Video.
The End We Start From
Provocative and haunting, this survival drama will leave its mark on you. Jodie plays a new mother fighting against the clock for survival in London, which is facing life-threatening flooding. Her waters break as the flooding begins. Her baby, Zeb, arrives safely, but then she and her partner, R (Joel Fry), must fight treacherous conditions through a disintegrating world they no longer recognise. The film masterfully captures both the joy of new motherhood and the anguish of the environmental crisis. The End We Start From is available to watch now on BBC iPlayer.
Doctor Foster
Suranne Jones delivers a breathtaking performance as a woman scorned in this gripping affair drama - but the series wouldn't be anywhere near as good without Jodie's star turn. Set in the fictional affluent town of Parminster, Gemma (Suranne) is a GP who seemingly has it all – the perfect home, the perfect family and the perfect career. That is, until she discovers her husband, Simon (Bertie Carvel), is having an affair with Kate (Jodie), and begins plotting her revenge. Excitingly, the BBC is bringing us a third and final series, although Jodie sadly won't be returning. Doctor Foster is available to watch now on BBC iPlayer.
