Now the weather is colder and the evenings are darker, we're all looking for ways to feel cosier - and nothing achieves that quite like wrapping up in a soft and fluffy cardigan. For a little inspiration, we've rewound the clock to the 1980s and are taking a leaf out of Princess Diana's style book.
Back in 1984, the former Princess of Wales was cosied up in a fluffy, wrap-around cardigan in the shade of a snowy-white lamb. She wore it over a pink dress at the Guards' Polo Club in Windsor, and would have been pregnant with Prince Harry at the time the photos were taken.
While Princess Diana's outfit is from decades ago, it's a timeless look which still works just as well today. In fact, we've found a strikingly similar cardigan to the very one worn by Princess Diana, which would make the perfect winter warmer. The M&S 'Edge To Edge Longline Cardigan' is the same length as Princess Diana's and is also without a fastening, making ideal for wrapping around just as she does, in the above photos.
The cardigan comes in either 'natural', which is the closest match to Princess Diana's, or 'sage', which is an earthy, olive green shade. The best news is that the £30 cover-up is fully stocked in all sizes (at time of writing), from extra small to extra large.
Despite the decades that have passed, Princess Diana continues to be a style inspiration to many, including the current Princess of Wales.
For instance, Kate was seen wearing a grey blazer in the Prince of Wales check (also known as 'glen plaid') over a plain t-shirt, which which looked very like an almost identical look once worn by her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana, many years earlier.
