New episodes of The Voice season 30 air on NBC every Monday and Tuesday.
This season features Kelly Clarkson, Adam Levine, Riley Green, and Queen Latifah as coaches.
Fans want to know why Blake Shelton isn’t a coach on The Voice after he left in season 23.
The Voice season 30 is airing right now, and we have to talk about the coaches.
The latest installment airs Mondays and Tuesdays on NBC, and fans are eager to see which artists advance to the next phase of the competition with coaches Kelly Clarkson, Adam Levine, Riley Green, and Queen Latifah.
Given all these famous faces back on our screens, we need to remember one famous OG mentor: Blake Shelton. After all, he was part of the original program since day one, but he famously left The Voice after 23 seasons back in May 2023.
So, is there a chance Blake Shelton will return to The Voice? Well, we hate to break it to you, but it may be a while before we see him back on the series.
The singer has mentioned a few reasons for this.
Earlier in 2026, he surprised fans by announcing that he had released two new singles. “The Gambler” dropped exclusively on Amazon Music in May, and “Let Him In Anyway (Stripped Version)” dropped a few months later in August. This also came a year after releasing his latest album, For Recreational Use Only, in 2025.
But that's not all. At the time of Blake's exit from The Voice, he mentioned how he wanted to be more present as a husband to his wife, Gwen Stefani, whom he married back in 2021, and as a stepfather to sons Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo (Gwen shares her sons with ex-husband Gavin Rossdale).
"I think the only way for me to really [parent] right is to step away from being committed to something like The Voice that demands a lot of your time," he told Access Hollywood at the time. "There's no way around it. If you're going to do it and do it right, you have to be 100 percent in. And I just feel like those days are behind me for now. I got a more important job."
Although he's not a coach, he appeared on the show for the 30th season special in mid-September 2026.
“Can you believe we started this thing 15 years ago?!” he wrote in an Instagram caption. “I'll be back where it all began TONIGHT for @nbcthevoice’s 30th Anniversary Special on @nbc!!!! #TheVoice.”
We love how supportive he is!
