If you’re already thinking about what you'll eat over the Easter long weekend and you're drawing a blank, budget supermarket Lidl might have just solved your problem. Its £5.99 lamb wellington for two has been praised for its “superb taste” in the Good Housekeeping Institute’s annual Easter taste test, scoring an impressive 84/100.

Not everyone wants to tackle a full roast with all the trimmings, especially if you’re cooking for a smaller group or just want something low-effort but still feels a bit special. This is exactly where Lidl’s lamb wellington comes in. It’s pre-prepared, easy to cook and delivers that classic Easter flavour combination without the stress.

Our testers were seriously impressed. The lamb is slow-cooked, giving it a tender, melt-in-the-mouth texture, with rich, slightly gamey notes that feel comforting and indulgent. What really stood out, though, was the balance. The filling is lifted with a fresh, minty note and sweet peas, adding a welcome lightness to the dish.

The pastry also deserves a mention. It’s crisp, flaky and lightly buttery, holding everything together beautifully. Inside, a thick, sticky sauce brings the whole filling together, working perfectly with the richness of the lamb.

Described by the panel as “pure bliss” and “superb”, this is the kind of dish that's far more impressive than the effort you'll need to put in. Serve it with buttery spring vegetables, roast potatoes or even a simple green salad and you’ve got a fuss-free Easter lunch sorted.

With its strong score, generous flavour and very reasonable price point, this might just be the easiest win of the Easter weekend. Oh and did we mention it's delicious?
