M&S has just launched a wave of exciting summer treats, and this time it’s all about ice cream. There's extra-chocolatey creations, fruity pops and plenty of indulgent new flavours that got the whole office talking. There’s a lot of deliciousness to choose from, but the one launch that really got us excited is the new Extremely Chocolatey Loaded Pistachio Velvet Ice Creams, a dessert that sounds like it belongs in an Italian gelato shop rather than the supermarket freezers.
The timing couldn’t be better either, with warmer weather firmy here. Launching in stores tomorrow (along with 47 other ice creams) is an ice cream that combines smooth pistachio ice cream with a rich pistachio sauce centre, all coated in thick milk chocolate and finished with crunchy roasted pistachio pieces. In true M&S style this is not just a simple ice cream on a stick, this is very much a decadent, triple loaded extravaganza dessert situation, and where texture is just as important as flavour.
Pistachio is still proving to be one of the biggest food trends around right now, showing up in everything from croissants and cheesecakes to iced lattes and giant chocolate bars. M&S has fully embraced the obsession too, with products like its viral Big Daddy Pistachio bar and pistachio crème spreads already developing cult followings online and plenty of fans in GH Towers.
We can't wait to take a bite into this and experience that creamy pistachio centre and the crisp chocolate coating. The roasted pistachios should also help to bring a more savoury, nutty edge, to balance the sweetness, making them feel a little more grown-up than your average ice cream. They retail for £4.50 and should be popping up in M&S stores right now. Well, that’s our bank holiday shopping basket sorted.
