M &S is currently selling a Chicken Tikka Masala Dip and it might genuinely be one of the best things we’ve eaten this year. In fact, our senior food & drink writer Mel claims it has completely changed her life.

At first glance, it doesn’t look like much. It sits quietly in the fridge aisle amongst the usual houmous and soft cheese dips, but this is absolutely not your average picky bits item. We’re urging everyone to add it to their basket on their next food shop. A 170g tub costs £3.95 which is a little on the pricier side, but trust on this one. It is worth every penny.

The dip itself is impressively layered with flavour. It starts with a creamy soft cheese base infused with warming tikka spices, then gets topped with coriander and chilli Greek-style yoghurt, tender pieces of chicken breast, pickled red onions and a final scattering of parsley. It’s rich, fragrant and genuinely tastes like something you’d order alongside poppadoms at your favourite curry house.

What surprised us most was just how much flavour there is packed into one tub. It’s creamy and comforting, but with a real depth of spice and tanginess that you don’t normally get from supermarket dips. Every layer brings something different, from the cooling yoghurt to the sharp pickled onions and savoury chicken. It's a delight on the senses.

And the best pairing? Thick, crunchy pitta chips. The kind sturdy enough to scoop up an outrageous amount in one go. Or their new Ultimate Tortilla Dippers. Such an elite chip! We can already tell this is going to become a regular fixture in our fridge all summer long.
