We've just heard some of the best food news we've had in ages, and it involves two of our favourite childhood treats coming together to create what might be the ultimate heatwave dessert.

Launching on the 14 July, McDonald's is giving its iconic McFlurry a Cornetto makeover, and we genuinely can't decide which flavour we're more excited to try.

First up is the Cornetto McFlurry, which combines McDonald's signature soft dairy ice cream with swirls of rich chocolate sauce, finished with crunchy pieces of chocolate Cornetto cone for that unmistakable crispy, intense chocolatey bite.

Then there's the one that's really caught our attention: the Strawberry Cornetto McFlurry. This version pairs the classic soft serve with strawberry sauce and strawberry Cornetto cone pieces. I had no idea strawberry Cornetto cone pieces even existed, but now that we do, we suddenly feel like we've been missing out.

Cornettos have been synonymous with British summers for decades, while the McFlurry remains one of our favourite fast-food desserts. Bringing the two together feels like a nostalgic mash-up we can't believe didn't exist sooner.

We can't wait to dig into this and enjoy the pockets of smooth soft serve with pockets of that crunchy, chocolate-filled cone, so adding those crisp pieces throughout a McFlurry sounds like a guaranteed winner. Combined with the creamy soft serve and chocolate or strawberry sauce, it promises plenty of crunch in every spoonful.

Both flavours will be available in McDonald's restaurants from 14 July, priced at £2.59 each.
