The Princess of Wales undertook a very special trip to Leicester this week (Thursday 5 March), meeting members of the local community and businesses, as well as watching an impressive dance display. While there, The Princess revealed one of her family's priorities when it comes to spending time together, as well as a hobby that all three of her children - Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis - enjoy.
While in the city, Kate visited, 'Leicester’s Golden Mile, meeting family-run businesses that form the heart of the city’s thriving South Asian community. Ending at Shreeji Dham Haveli, where faith, culture and community life intertwine,' as she explained in a post on Instagram. One of the businesses Kate visited was Indian restaurant Bobby's, run by Dharmesh and Enna Lakhani.
They told the BBC that The Princess had congratulated the couple on their thriving business and admitted that "sitting down and eating as a family together becomes harder and harder" in a "fast-paced" world. According to the couple, she also revealed to them that she was "okay with spice."
While in Leicester, Kate was also treated to a very special performance of 'Songs of the Bulbul’ from choreographer and performer Aakash Odedra, who she also met with. On Instagram, Kate said the showcase explores how, "dance can blend Indian music, Sufi poetry and spiritual storytelling to create a transformative experience." She appeared to be impressed by the performance and can be seen in photographs and clips from the day smiling throughout, and clapping appreciatively at the close of the show.
It would have been ideal if The Princess' children had been able to also witness what she described as a "moving" performance, saying, "my children would love it," according to the BBC. She also revealed that "they love their dance".
The Princess of Wales' visit followed the day after the Hindu Festival of Holi and, while there, she was presented with a garland of roses and pearl beads. Kate wore the garland over amonochrome white look, which included a pleated midi skirt and matching, long line coat.
