Polka dots, florals, leaf print… it’s clear that when it comes to summer style, print and patterns are in. Everywhere you look, from royal wardrobes to the high street, patterns abound. In the last week alone, we’ve seen Joan Collins in polka dots and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, in multiple different types of florals.
But if you’re looking for an alternative to the classics, perhaps Kate Garraway can serve as inspiration. Her stylist for Good Morning Britain, Debbie Harper, shared a photo of an excellent dress the presenter wore for the show today, 2 June, in a cheering lemon print.
Citrus prints feel spot on for summer, working perfectly for holiday wardrobes or as a way to bring some sunshine to a rainy day in the UK. Kate Garraway’s dress is by German womenswear label Marc Cain, which has also been worn by celebrities including Jerry Hall and Elizabeth Jagger. It’s still available to buy for £305.
Kate is obviously a fan of fruit-themed fashion, as a few weeks ago she wore a different citrus print while presenting Good Morning Britain. That was a blue shirt dress printed with limes from Karen Millen. It’s now sold out, but the brand has another dress in the same print available, just with a halterneck instead of a collar. That dress is also currently on sale.
If you’d like to take a leaf out of Kate’s book and embrace zest-packed fashion, you’re in luck. We’ve found a similar lemon print dress still available in all sizes from French Connection. Its flattering ruched bodice, square neckline, and thick straps with trimmed edges make this dress an ideal wedding guest option. We think it would also look lovely on holiday with a pair of flat sandals, or dressed down for everyday (once the sun comes back out) wear with an open white shirt on top. Bonus: it has pockets!
To recap: citrus fruits aren’t just excellent for cocktails, but also for fashion. Who knew?
