Victoria Beckham really doesn’t get enough credit for her comedy chops. Possibly because everyone’s distracted by her other skills – fashion design, creating excellent beauty products, being a Spice Girl... But at the ceremony to present husband David Beckham with his star on the Walk of Fame, Victoria took her time to shine.
After more than 26 years of marriage, it makes sense that Victoria was chosen to give the speech celebrating David’s big moment in Los Angeles. She wore a ruched lavender dress from her own Resort 2027 collection, pairing this with glamorous long waves and a classic makeup look (using Victoria Beckham Beauty products, we presume!).
And Victoria surprised us all by starting off her speech at the podium with a joke: ‘Naturally, I assumed I was coming here today to receive my star for my part in that iconic cult classic, Spice World: The Movie.’
After that excellent line, Victoria went on to give a heartfelt speech that showcased her deep love and respect for her partner. ‘As it turns out, earning a star takes a little more than surviving the late 90s box office. It takes vision, determination and an extraordinary amount of hard work. To see David’s name become part of that story today is incredibly special.’
‘Most of you will know David as a sportsman, a businessman and an activist,’ she continued. ‘But behind those titles is a man who has always been defined by his character. Whether he’s working, supporting his family and friends or the causes he cares about, he gives it everything.’
Victoria ended her speech by speaking directly to David: ‘I am so proud of everything that you have achieved so far, but even more proud of the husband, father and person that you have always been.’

Lovely, right?
Most of the Beckham family showed up to support David, with Romeo and Cruz turning up with their respective partners, model Kim Turnbull and songwriter Jackie Apostel. Harper Beckham sat next to her mum, while the David and Victoria’s eldest son, Brooklyn, was absent (as expected).
The ceremony wasn’t just a family affair. There were a number of unexpected celebrity guests in attendance, including fellow Walk-of-Fame star-holder Tom Cruise, Eva Longoria (who’s a long-time friend of the Beckham family), former football player Robbie Keane, along with his wife Claudine, and Anastasia Soare, the CEO of Anastasia Beverley Hills.
David was visibly touched by all the support, pictured wiping a tear. He also delivered a speech, which saw him thank his family and reflect on his upbringing.
‘I must admit that this is all rather surreal,’ said David. ‘I’ve experienced some amazing moments in my career, but to be here in Los Angeles receiving a star on the world-famous Walk of Fame is truly incredible. I’ve always been a dreamer, but I could never have imagined that an honour like this would come to a working-class English soccer player like me.
‘I grew up in the East End of London, a long way from Hollywood. As a young boy, I loved soccer more than anything and it was all I ever wanted to do. I always loved America, though, and its TV shows. I was obsessed with action heroes, so to stand here in front of my friend Tom Cruise – the greatest movie star of our time – is quite frankly mind-blowing. The fact that mine and Victoria’s first movie date was Jerry Maguire is a pretty mad full-circle moment.’
He continued: ‘I want to thank my incredible family, my parents and my sisters, who always supported my dreams. Victoria, my amazing wife of almost 30 years, without whom none of this would be possible or enjoyable, and my beautiful children, who are the reason that I get out of bed in the morning.’
